How to Calculate Brick, Sand, and Cement Quantity for the Brick Work.
let's take the following brick size:
Length:
190 mm = 0.19M
Width :
90mm = 0.09M
Height
: 90mm
= 0.09M
Now
start the calculation!!!
Consider
thickness of mortar: 10 mm = 0.01m
&
Mortar
Ratio - 1:6 (1-cement and 6 Sand)
Volume
of single Brick with Mortar:
=
(Length of brick + Thickness of mortar) X
(Width of brick + Thickness of mortar) X
(Height of brick + Thickness of mortar)
=
(0.190+0.01) X (0.09+0.01) X (0.09+0.01)
= 0.002
CUM
Number
of brick in 1 CUM with mortar:
=
1/(volume of brick with mortar)
=
1/0.002
= 500
No’s
Volume
of Brick without Mortar:
=Length
of brick X Width of brick X height of a brick
=0.190*0.09*0.09
=0.001539
CUM
Volume
of bricks without mortar for 1 CUM:
= (No of
brick in 1 CUM) X (volume of single brick without mortar)
= 500 X
0.001539
= 0.7695
CUM
Required
amount of cement mortar:
= 1 - The volume of bricks without mortar
= 1 -
0.7695
= 0.2305
CUM (Wet condition)
Dry mortar
quantity???
The
above volume is in wet condition but we need dry condition cement volume.
So
multiply 33% as bulkage of sand with wet mortar Quantity.
Dry
mortar quantity:
= 0.2305
X 1.33
=0.306565
CUM
Required
amount of cement:
= Dry
mortar quantity X (1/7) X Density of cement
=0.306565
X (1/7) X 1440 Kg
= 63 Kg
=1.26 Kg.
Here 1/7
is taken from the mortar ratio.
1 cement ratio
6 sand ratio
Required
amount of sand:
=Dry
mortar quantity X (6/7)
=
0.306565 X (6/7)
=
0.26277 CUM
So
Finally 1 CUM of brickwork, we need
Bricks =
500 NO’s
Cement =
63 Kg
Sand =
0.263 CUM
